MediaTek releases the latest 5G chip Dimensity 720, creating an extraordinary 5G experience for mid-range smartphones
July 23, 2020-MediaTek today announced the launch of the latest 5G SoC-Dimensity 720, which will further promote the popularization of 5G mid-range smartphones and bring users an extraordinary 5G experience.
Dimensity 720 belongs to the MediaTek 5G series of chips. The MediaTek 5G chips include Dimensity 1000 series for flagship 5G smartphones, and Dimensity 800 series and 700 series for popular 5G mid-range mobile devices.
Dr. Li Yanji, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Division, said: “The Dimensity 720 has set a new benchmark and provides a feature-rich 5G technology and user experience for popular terminals in the mass market. This energy-efficient 5G SoC has strong Performance, and excellent display and imaging technology. The integration of these features will help terminal manufacturers create differentiated 5G devices for consumers around the world."
Dimensity 720 adopts 7nm process and integrates low-power 5G modem. The chip supports MediaTek 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, which can dynamically adjust the working mode of the modem according to the network environment and data transmission conditions to extend battery life. Dimensity 720 also integrates excellent multimedia, wireless connectivity and imaging functions to enhance the user's comprehensive experience.

It supports 90Hz screen refresh rate to realize fast and smooth game and streaming media playback.
Enhance HDR10+ video quality through MediaTek MiraVision and optimize the display effect of video streams. Support multiple video optimization functions, such as dynamic range remapping.
Support flexible camera configuration, up to 64 million pixel camera, 20 million + 16 million pixel dual camera combination. The integrated MediaTek APU (AI processor) also provides a series of AI camera enhancements.
The integrated voice wake-up (VoW) function can minimize the standby power consumption of the voice assistant. Support dual microphone noise reduction technology, even in a noisy environment, the voice assistant can clearly hear the user's voice.
In addition to a series of advanced 5G functions, Dimensity 720 also has a strong core performance, providing the terminal with the performance required to run the latest AI applications, while maintaining ultra-low power consumption. Dimensity 720 uses an eight-core CPU, including two Arm Cortex-A76 cores with a main frequency of 2GHz, which improves the response speed of the application and brings a smooth experience to users. Dimensity 720 is also equipped with Arm Mali-G57 GPU, LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 flash memory to achieve faster reading and writing speed.
